Signage Ordinance, Design Guidelines to Head to Council
Wednesday, September 28, 2011 • Posted September 29, 2011

In October 2007, the Blanco Historic Preservation Action Plan was completed and presented to the City of Blanco. The second highest goal of the plan was to develop signage and design guidelines and a gateway plan. At the October Blanco City Council meeting, the completed Signage Ordinance and the Design Guidelines will be presented to the city council for approval and adoption.

Since 2007, hundreds of hours by hundreds of volunteers have gone into the development and completion of both of the goals. I hope that you will attend the October City Council meeting to show your appreciation to all of the volunteers in Blanco who have been so committed and worked so hard to make this happen.

Remember: this all started in 2004 with a very large group of “old timers” from Blanco and “new comers” to Blanco who wanted to “Preserve Blanco’s History and Heritage.” The Blanco Historic Preservation Commissioners say, “Job well done!”

We would like to pay a tribute to T. D. Smylie for the role that he played, and still plays, in guiding and leading our preservation efforts.
