The Belief Inventory
Wednesday, October 5, 2011 • Posted October 7, 2011

What is it? It’s an inventory of what you or I believe about ourselves. I believe it’s important and something we should do because sometimes we keep repeating certain patterns that we can’t break.

Jesus said we‘d have what we believe. Where? Read on.

Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

Matthew 21:22 “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

Matthew 9:27-30 “27And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.

28And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.

29Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

30And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.”

Matthew 9:20-22 “20And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:

21For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

22But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.”

Well, I’m sharing Scriptures that teach us what we believe is very important. We need to protect what we believe and reinforce it with God’s Word so we can’t be shaken. Because people or circumstances do come up to destroy us (because Jesus said we’d have persecution in this world) so when it happens we don’t have to let it shake our belief, because if it steals our belief, it could cause us to believe our world is destroyed, and then the devil wins, because he was able to steal our belief!

For example, do you believe you are saved? Do you believe God gave you a spirit of love, power and sound mind? Do you believe because you lose things or forget things that you have the beginning stages of Altzheimer’s disease? Do you believe you can get out of debt, if you really set your mind to being self disciplined to stop spending what you don’t have? Do you believe you’ll never be able to save up money for a car or home improvement, so that’s why you use your credit card? Do you believe God’s Word over circumstances that are staring you in the face? Do you believe in Jesus Christ and His passion? Do you believe Jesus will raise you up when you die so you’ll be in heaven some day? Or are you still not sure if you’ll get there? What if you’ve received Jesus into your heart, but there’s still something causing you to wonder if you’ll be accepted into heaven? What if that unbelief could prevent one from getting into heaven? Didn’t Jesus say we’d have what we believe?

John 12:37-40 “37But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.”

So doesn’t it seem important to make sure we actually believe what we’re hoping for? When we seek God’s Word, we read Scriptures that teach us what we need to believe so we won’t doubt that we are saved, and will be in heaven with Jesus when we die, and that we’ve been given a spirit of love, power and sound mind. The enemy wants us to believe we’re sick, because he came to steal, kill and destroy, but he’s a liar and causes others to lie, too!

God’s Word says that Jesus worked miracle after miracle in towns he traveled through, yet couldn’t work many miracles in his hometown due to the people’s unbelief. Jesus would ask people “Do you believe I can do this?” They would reply yes, and then they would receive healing, and He’d tell them “because you believed, you are healed or your faith has made you whole.”

Mark 10:51-52 “51And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.”

Luke 17:17-19 “17And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.”

So make sure your belief is true, and based on God’s Word so nothing can cause you to waver!

John 3:36 “36He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
