Dear Editor,

I just want to alert the citizens of Blanco that there is a lot of breaking and entering going on – some in the daytime, some at night.

Someone I know very well just had their home broken in. The thieves threw a rock through a window on the back side of their home and entered. The back of this house is not really visible to neighbors from any direction. These folks were not there that night. The thieves ransacked their home, looking for valuables. When they did not find jewelry of any real value, they smashed the jewelry box. No electronics were taken as they have a very heavy, old-style TV and a VCR. Even though nothing of value was taken, the thieves made a mess of their home. Fingerprint dusting was done, but apparently the thieves were wearing gloves.

Since this break-in on October 3, I have talked to other people in Blanco who have had break-ins or have scared off people trying to gain access to their neighbors houses in the daytime

My purpose of this letter is to make everyone aware that we have some thieves around that are watching and waiting for the right opportunity to break in a door or window that may be secluded from sight of passers-by or neighbors.

Another person I talked to said their home was broken in to a few months ago and the thieves got jewelry, electronics, etc. – “Cleaned them out” were their words. This person is within four blocks of the courthouse – and again, no fingerprints were found.

So please keep your eyes and ears open. Report any suspicious activity. Let’s catch these low-lifes!

Nancy Arnold
