Saturday, October 15, is fast approaching, but it’s not too late to plan to attend the many events to be held on the historic Old Blanco County Courthouse grounds. Market Days will begin at 9 a.m. and run through 4 p.m. The Family Festival will begin at 11 a.m. and run to 3:00 p.m. Both these events are free. Zydeco Blanco will entertain through the festival hours, and children can decorate Jack o-Lanterns at the Pumpkin Patch throughout the day. Face-painting for children will be available during the festival. The Austin Astronomical Society will have a telescope set up for children, as well as adults, to view the sun as part of the Stars in the Park Program. The following special presentations will also entertain the whole family: Historic Storytelling at 11:45 a.m., Trick Roper Travis Gourley at 12:45 p.m., and Jeff Holmes, with a Snake Program at 1:45 p.m.

Raffle tickets will also be sold for a Petting Pony Party for up to 20 children at the Alamo Miniatures Ranch in Twin Sisters, through the generosity of owner Jane Macon. A barbecue lunch is included in the party package. Tickets will be on sale at the Old Courthouse and during the Family Festival at a cost of $5 each or 5 for $20.

A Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament will be held upstairs in the courthouse from 10:30 to 2 p.m. Entrance fee is $60. For more information, call the courthouse at 830-833-2211 or Jeff at 214-394-9270. Re-buys and Re-Fresh will be available during the tournament. Registration is limited to 100 people.

It’s also not too late to purchase tickets to the Gala Dinner and Dance. It will begin at 6 p.m. and will include live and silent auctions, a fabulous dinner catered by Sullivan Street Caterers, and dancing the night away to the sounds of Gary Glenn and the 20X Band. Cost for the Gala is $50 per person. Call the courthouse at 830-833-2211 to arrange to pick up your tickets. All proceeds from the event go toward maintenance of the historic building, which is totally supported by donations and fund-raisers.

A Street Dance for those who do not wish to attend the Gala will run from 8:30-11:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Gary Glenn and the 20X Band. Cost is $10 per person.

Call Leslie at the courthouse at 830-833-2211 with any questions.
