Duck slaughter attempt thwarted! Tuesday evening, October 4, two ducks were saved from certain death at Flat Rock. The beautiful birds’ feet were ensnared in fishing line which was caught in a bush on the bank. The flock had remained with their trapped members until a passerby was alerted by frantic movement in the weeds. The two mallards were gently lifted and the monofilament line cut from there webbed feet. It appeared no permanent harm had been done as the two victims appreciatively squawked and swam off to join their mates.

Fisher people, please remove your ruined line! The line, as well as the hooks on the ends of it, are extremely dangerous to wildlife, pets, children and adults who enjoy the beautiful Blanco River. Humans are the only group capable of purposely befouling the river. All citizens should do their part to keep Blanco safe and beautiful! Pick up after yourselves!
