35For I have come to part asunder a man from his father, and a daughter from her mother, and a newly married wife from her mother-in-law--36And a man's foes will be they of his own household.” Mt.10:35
Do you know anyone who has had to leave their family or friends because of their faith in God? This is a very difficult thing to do, because we grow up dependent on our parents and family, yet, if we come to know our Lord God, and the rest of the family is not walking with Him, we eventually see that we are not like them anymore, (and possibly have never really felt like them at all and have always been different), and being around them becomes more and more difficult.
“Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.” Deuteronomy 13:4 KJV
When we are trying to love God and serve only Him, we will have to make choices. I pray I can always make the right choice that will bring me closer to God.
In Matthew 10:27-42 Jesus said “27What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim upon the housetops.
28And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Gehenna).
29Are not two little sparrows sold for a penny? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's leave (consent) and notice.
30But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31Fear not, then; you are of more value than many sparrows.
32Therefore, everyone who acknowledges Me before men and confesses Me [out of a state of oneness with Me], I will also acknowledge him before My Father Who is in heaven and confess [that I am abiding in] him.
33But whoever denies and disowns Me before men, I also will deny and disown him before My Father Who is in heaven.
34Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
35For I have come to part asunder a man from his father, and a daughter from her mother, and a newly married wife from her mother-in-law--
36And a man's foes will be they of his own household.
37He who loves [and takes more pleasure in] father or mother more than [in] Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves [and takes more pleasure in] son or daughter more than [in] Me is not worthy of Me;
38And he who does not take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conforming wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying also] is not worthy of Me.
39Whoever finds his [lower] life will lose it [the higher life], and whoever loses his [lower] life on My account will find it [the higher life].
40He who receives and welcomes and accepts you receives and welcomes and accepts Me, and he who receives and welcomes and accepts Me receives and welcomes and accepts Him Who sent Me.
41He who receives and welcomes and accepts a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who receives and welcomes and accepts a righteous man because he is a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
42And whoever gives to one of these little ones [in rank or influence] even a cup of cold water because he is My disciple, surely I declare to you, he shall not lose his reward.
Isaiah 9:6-7 “6For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.
7Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
Jesus came that we could be saved from the spiritual death, if we will believe in Him. By His coming, He came with a sword, and not for peace. Yet, He gives us peace, within us, when we receive Him into our hearts and trust in Him. We will have a peaceful life with Him after He gets rid of the devil and Satan himself, and all his cohorts. But for now, we have choices to make. Decide to forsake sin, even if it means forsaking our family and friends, pick up our cross and follow Christ.
And, as Matthew 10:27 says, “27What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim upon the housetops.” You can share God’s Word like I am. Just share a Scripture with someone in need. And as Jesus said in Matthew 10:32 above “32Therefore, everyone who acknowledges Me before men and confesses Me [out of a state of oneness with Me], I will also acknowledge him before My Father Who is in heaven and confess [that I am abiding in] him.”
What joy we have even now, knowing that Jesus intercedes for us every day because we acknowledge Him!
