Festive Weekend Planned for Rain Bird Gallery Anniversary, Downtown Blanco Antiques and Furnishings
Wednesday, October 19, 2011 • Posted October 20, 2011

Two events mark happy occasions at Rain Bird Gallery. First, a ribbon cutting for Downtown Blanco Antiques and Furnishings is scheduled for Friday, October 21, at 5:00pm. A wine and cheese party will follow. On Saturday, October 22, from 9:00am to 5:00pm the Annual Open House for Rain Bird Gallery will be celebrated.

Becky Walker, owner of Rain Bird Gallery, will mark over a decade of successful business at Rain Bird Gallery. The gallery, one of Blanco’s treasures, is located in what was once the First Baptist Church of Blanco building. Many people who enter the building have actually been part of, or remember, such events as weddings, baptisms, etc. in the building. It has been an art gallery for over twenty years now, adding home décor along the way, and recently opening Downtown Blanco Antiques and Furnishings.

The art gallery contains the consigned work of many Hill Country and Texas artists. Most of the artists are nationally and internationally recognized with numerous awards and some have been published in such magazines as Texas Monthly and Artist’s Magazine. Rain Bird Gallery is a distributor of the well-known art of Kenneth Wyatt.

Besides the many local gift items like candles, jewelry, pottery, silk scarves, etc., many people do not realize that Rain Bird Gallery also offers home décor. This year, Rain Bird has added a new rustic furniture line to its home décor offerings with a Southwest emphasis. It has proven to be very popular and complements the art in the gallery.

Rain Bird Gallery has also opened up vendor space for antiques and furnishings this year as Downtown Blanco Antiques and Furnishings. Eight wonderful vendors (with room for more) now offer a large and varied line of antiques, collectibles and memorabilia. There are home décor items for every room of the house including retro and vintage offerings.

People are amazed at just how beautiful, and large, the gallery is when they come in the doors. The public is invited to celebrate this weekend with staff and vendors and experience this for themselves.
