2nd Annual Light Night for Jesus to be Held at First Baptist
Wednesday, October 26, 2011 • Posted October 27, 2011

Bring your children and grandchildren to eat a hotdog and win prizes on Halloween night, from 5pm to 7pm, at First Baptist Church, where we are holding the 2nd Annual Light Night For Jesus presented by Blanco area churches. Night Light For Jesus shows children of all ages that Halloween night doesn't have to be scary, and that God loves them through God's Word shared with them. It is a new tradition already being held at many churches, and now is here in Blanco. Children can enjoy Halloween in a safe environment where there are adults to supervise safe fellowship, fun, candy, food, and best of all, God's Word shared in the form of scriptures they can take home to read again later. There are also safe crafts they can make and have as a memory.

Last year was the first year it was held in Blanco and 300 children came from as far as San Antonio. So far this year, the churches sponsoring Night Light For Jesus are Abundant Grace, Trinity Lutheran, Ark Revival Ministries, Mt. Horeb Baptist, St. Ferdinand's and First Baptist. We have planned for 300 plus; even though Halloween was on Sunday last year, and this year is on a school night, it may prevent those who have a ways to travel from coming. We will be there with our car trunks – and pickup beds – open to hand out candy, with smiles on our faces, letting our little lights shine for Jesus.

Last year Mt. Horeb prepared a basket of scriptures with ziplocs of candy, glow sticks, and tangerines from my mother's tree in San Antonio, and even though Lawrence and I were not able to attend, there were helpers to pass out our goodies. So, if your church congregation is small like ours, or your helpers are few in number, if there is something your church would like to contribute, the children receiving it will be grateful and full of smiles, and there will be adults willing to help with anything you'd like to contribute.

Please contact Dawn Burnett or Karen Cox, through the First Baptist Church, if your church would like to participate.

We hope you will bring your children and grandchildren so they can eat a chilidog and win some prizes from the fun booths that will be set up from 5-7pm on Halloween night on the First Baptist Church grounds in Blanco.
