JV Panthers Explode in 4th to Smash Comfort
Wednesday, October 26, 2011 • Posted October 27, 2011

Against their biggest rivals, the JV team traveled to Comfort and found a fired-up Bobcat squad looking to upset the Panthers.

Blanco received the opening kick-off but fumbled it away on the first series. This allowed Comfort a short field to drive in for the game’s initial touchdown, putting the Bobcats up 8-0. Comfort then held Blanco on their next offensive series, and took over at midfield. The Bobcats drove to the Blanco 10-yard line, but the Panther ‘D’ recovered a fumble. Carson Kipp then ripped off a 40-yard run to midfield. The Panthers drove to the Comfort 22-yard line but turned the ball over on downs.

Blanco’s defense would bend the entire game but never break, and the Panthers forced a turnover on downs at midfield. Blanco’s ground game got into gear with hard runs by Carson Kipp and Aikman Elrod getting the Panthers inside the 5-yard line. From there, Carson Kipp punched in Blanco’s first touchdown, then caught the 2-point pass from QB McKay Adamson to tie the score.

Both defenses held, with Logan Dodd intercepting the Bobcats to halt their next drive, but Comfort returned the favor by intercepting Blanco. With less than 6 minutes left in the game, Logan Dodd dashed around the left side and went 85 yards untouched; Kipp again caught the PA, putting Blanco up 16-0. The Blanco ‘D’ again held Comfort on downs and took over at the Comfort 38-yard line. On 4th down, QB McKay Adamson took a keeper around the right side and dashed 31 yards for another score. Carson Kipp caught his third PA, giving Blanco a 24-8 lead.

On Comfort’s final series, Kyle Sauceda forced and recovered a fumble to seal the game. Stellar defensive plays were seen from Colton Elrod, Hunter Goodman, Brian Brecka, and Grant Calconzit. The JV improved to 6-2 on the year and 3-0 in district. They will face their toughest district game at Lago Vista on Thursday.
