Don't Miss Veteran’s Parade on Nov. 12
Wednesday, November 2, 2011 • Posted November 3, 2011

It's coming... the Veterans Parade will be November 12 in downtown Blanco followed by the American Legion Post 352 Chili & Bean Chuckwagon Fundraiser Dinner.

This years Grand Marshall will be Spc. Thomas Broyles, U.S. Army. Thomas is a member of Post 352. He just recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan. Pictured is Thomas presenting a Barbie blanket to schoolgirls in Afghanistan. The blanket was donated by Sydney Hilterbrant, a 2nd grader at Blanco Elementary to Post 352. Last year Post 352 and Unit 352 collected items for troops, and Auxiliary Unit 352 presented the items to Thomas' parents in their Johnson City home.

The Post and Unit will again be collecting items for troops. Please come out on the 12th and meet this hometown hero at the chuckwagon dinner and bring your items for donation; a box will be available.

Contact Unit President Roxanna Avants at 512-627-0584 or Post Adjutant Ellen Keller at 512-698-6869 for any donations you may have.

If you are a veteran and want to ride on our veterans trailer, please contact Roxanna Avants at 512-627-0584 or .

The American Legion Veteran’s Parade is part of a fun weekend in Blanco. Visit the Blanco Pioneer Museum on the evening of November 11 for a BBQ, street dance, and auctions. After the parade on Saturday, attend the Tolling of the Bells in Blanco Historic Cemetery at 1pm.
