“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.” –Psalms 37:5

The chorus “Lord, make me a living sanctuary for Thee” captures the essence of those faithful present on Sunday, November 6, 1859, as First Baptist Church was first constituted. We are to make Him our guide and to submit everything to Him.

With a profound sense of history and anticipation of the future, Sunday, November 6, 2011, marks the church’s 152nd anniversary. The milestones of the church’s pilgrimage serves as a reminder of victories to come.

In June 1985, W.R. Hicks became our pastor and has served longer than any of our previous pastors.

Reviewing any stated period of time can inspire us to remember all the ways of God’s grace leading us. Pondering questions, such as “Does my calendar keep me from greatness? Does my comfort keep me from greatness? Does my character compel to greatness?” will help to continue a great future.
