Free Street Dance this Weekend to Benefit Blanco County Firefighters
Johnson City Chamber of Commerce
Wednesday, November 9, 2011 • Posted November 10, 2011

This coming Saturday, November 12, you can enjoy fabulous music from El Verde Boys, Roadside Texas, Homer Whisenant Band and the Hilltop Band. Bring your lawn chairs, coolers, a picnic basket and plan for a good time. You can also plan on viewing fire trucks, face painting and sidewalk chalk for the kids. This event will take place from 3-10 p.m. on the south side of the Blanco County Courthouse.

Besides a fantastic way to have fun, this street dance has a dual purpose; it is also to raise much needed funds for our fire departments in Blanco County, including Blanco, Johnson City and Round Mountain fire departments. This severe drought and the fires created because of it have taken a toll on equipment and tires. We want to give our awesome firefighters all the help we can so they can continue to do a great job of keeping us all safe.

Donations are being accepted at the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce at 100 E. Main Street or you can mail your donation to PO Box 485, Johnson City, TX 78636. Please make checks payable to the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce. Once funds are gathered, they will be distributed to the fire departments. No donation is too big or too small – it all adds up and will benefit our fire departments. There will also be donation areas set up at the Street Dance, should you like to donate that day.

Along with the street dance is a firefighter appreciation meal. We have asked Blanco County restaurants to provide free or discounted meals to our firefighters on Saturday, November 12. If you haven’t signed up, it’s not too late! Notify the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce at 830-868-7684 or info@ johnsoncitytexaschamber.com by Thursday, November 10, at 4 p.m. and we’ll add you to the list. A free or discounted meal is a great way to appreciate our volunteer firefighters who protect us without pay, and do a darn good job of it.

Come and join in the fun at the street dance. Nothing better than a fun Saturday on a nice November day in the Texas Hill Country. See y’all there!
