Okay, it is the day before Thanksgiving and we can already see signs of it everywhere. Yes, the weather gives folks a slight hint. Is it just me or does the sights and sounds of that most special day of the year begin one day earlier each year? Well, maybe it is just me. Folks throughout our county are beginning to think of Christmas. Boy, I love Christmas time and everything that goes along with it. Of course, it is very exciting to get that special someone in your life that special gift that they have been wanting and waiting for. Then, when gift opening time arrives, you get to watch the excitement and joy on their face as they tear through the wrapping paper and finally hold that special gift that you lovingly gave to them. What was even better than that, well at least when I was a kid, was opening the gifts that Santa dropped off for little ole’ me. Now, those were some fun times.
So, even if you rather not hear about Christmas so early, it is on its way. The city of Blanco has wonderful Christmas plans for the whole family. The North Pole has even got the word. Santa and Mrs. Claus are on their way and are almost here. They were so gracious to pencil us in and they will be making several appearances throughout the city. Charge up the cameras and dress up the kids.
Everyone will be ready for the grand kick-off. The day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 25, at 6:00 p.m., Christmas in Blanco is scheduled to begin. The annual tradition of the lighting of the town will feature the amazing light displays put together by many talented folks. Families from all over will be coming out, so you want to come out early.
Beautiful lights are critical to a true Christmas experience, but that is just the beginning. During many of the scheduled events, businesses throughout the city will be joining in the celebration in their own way with refreshments and several different exciting attractions. One thing that will be a must see this year is the Lights in the Park organized by the wonderful folks at Keep Blanco Beautiful. This is something that you will not want to miss.
You and your family want to make sure and get your Christmas in Blanco flyer. Simply drop by a participating business or stop by the Chamber of Commerce office to pick up your flyer. You can also call the Chamber of Commerce at 830-833-5101 to have one e-mailed or faxed to you. The flyer highlights all the days, dates and times and provides a brief description of all the events that will be a part of Christmas in Blanco.
There are two events among all the wonderful scheduled events that should be highlighted. First, there will be a Christmas concert, featuring three amazing groups held at the Carriage Hills Ranch. Everyone who attends the concert will also receive a chuckwagon dinner. Both the Christmas concert and the dinner are a free gift to you and your family. Now, that is the Christmas spirit. Second, on Saturday, December 10, at 6:00 p.m., you and your family will have the opportunity to experience the exciting Christmas night parade. Now, everyone loves a parade!
Okay, I guess I don’t mind all the Christmas stuff starting a little early. Just writing about all of this is making me want all of it to start now. Please make plans to bring your family out and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas in Blanco.
