County Fire Department Street Dance a Success
Johnson City Chamber of Commerce
Wednesday, November 23, 2011 • Posted November 23, 2011

Not only was there a great turnout and countywide support, but we were given an absolutely beautiful day for this event. We were greeted by fire trucks and firefighters from all three cities, Blanco, Johnson City and Round Mountain, along with our fabulous emcee, Johnson City Police Chief Randy Holland. Guest speakers included Jason Isaac, Ralph Moss and Judge Terry Carter. The bands El Verde Boys, Homer Whisenant Band, Roadside Texas, and the Hilltown Band performed from 3pm–10pm. Kim Brooks did face painting and had bubbles, sidewalk chalk and silly balloons for the kids and kids in all of us. Also, Pecan Street Brewing supplied sparklers for all the “kids.” David Dockery personally supplied t-shirts for all the firefighters in attendance so that we local folks could sign and thank them for their service to our communities. The following restaurants provided free or discounted meals to recognize our firefighters that day: AJ’s Pizza, Chrome Cactus, Pecan Street Brewing, Red Bud Café, Silver K Café and Uptown Blanco Restaurant. Johnson City Bank also supported the event – we appreciate y’all.

Also, many businesses in Blanco County provided donations to the firefighters that day, as well as collection boots at the street dance. We appreciate all the businesses that sponsored this event and provided donations to our firefighters. Current totals show over $3200 was raised for our Blanco County firefighters. Anyone who hasn’t sent their donations in, please do so this week, as we will distribute to the departments shortly. We appreciate everyone’s support and Tim and Patty Elliott for bringing their vision to fruition.

God bless our firefighters for the great job they do keeping us safe.
