Dear Editor,

Well, I didn’t think I could be amazed again after the Veterans Parade, however, this community and it’s great people have completely astounded and blessed me. We appreciate all who came out to participate in the Christmas Parade and those who lined to street in the rain to watch it. When the rain came at 5:30pm, I thought, “Oh boy, all this hard work was for nothing.” Boy did you guys show me! When I stood at the high school in the rain and cold and saw all the twinkling lights, I felt too proud of this town.

My husband Tom and my granddaughter Amaya were so helpful and patient while I was working on this parade. Clark Holmes is "the bomb" and has a talented voice; I hope all works out for you. Oscar and Veronica helped with the truck and trailer and decorations. Tom, Bruce, Dale ... what troopers! Jane Macon provided Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and the animals. The city of Blanco, the mayor, Retta, Darlene, Dennis Moore, Ms. Pat, Amos and the Chamber, the Christmas Committee, and everyone who had a part in this were greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.

Roxanna Avants

2011 Christmas Parade Chairperson
