Wednesday, December 14, 2011 • Posted December 15, 2011

Blanco Middle School is proud of their victory at the District 8-AA UIL Academic Competition held here last Wednesday, December 7. In the past twenty-two years, the middle school has captured twenty first place district titles because of the enthusiasm and preparation of the students, teachers, parents, and administrators of our district. “Stephanie Taylor, UIL Coordinator, worked tirelessly organizing the competition for our district schools,” said Principal Jesse Salazar. He also stated, “I want to commend our students and teachers for working dedicatedly and winning the meet!”

Bret Nance, who has won first place in Oral Reading for three years in a row, exclaimed, “I enjoy competing in Oral Reading because speaking in front of an audience is one of my favorite things to do. It is a skill I will use throughout my life!” Go Panthers!

Overall point totals: Blanco - 685.5, Junction - 572.5, Comfort - 471.5, Harper - 351, and Ingram - 225.5.
