Keep Blanco Beautiful

Keep Blanco Beautiful’s goal this year was to light up Blanco more than ever. Well, I believe that happened. The town is beautiful. If you have not been in at night to see all the lights and decorations, you are missing an opportunity for pleasure seeing how beautiful it is. This has been an exciting year for Blanco, being a participant in the Hill Country Trail of Lights. Now is the time to take a walk through Bindseil Park and see what has been accomplished this year.

We can’t say enough about everyone who has helped in this accomplishment, all the businesses and individuals, etc., who helped in different ways, including the Blanco Chamber and Blanco County News, to promote the lighting and events. Businesses and individuals really stepped up to the plate and helped us to take another step forward in the plan of making the park one of the best walking tours. In the coming years, we can help with your design if you would like to place one in the park. Your name will be placed on the scene (if you wish), whether it is a business, an individual, or in honor or memory of someone. This is your opportunity to help it grow and bring more people visiting Blanco to see our beautiful Christmas in Blanco.

Don’t miss all the photo opportunities in town for next year’s Christmas card! Businesses have reported that there are definitely more people in town, more visitors in town and even townspeople shopping local. This is the ultimate goal.

We have experienced some technical difficulties (as they say) with the lights but, with the help of the City and others, next year we will be able to rectify some of these problems. We’ve not had this much moisture during this time of year. Of course, KBB and everyone can’t be upset about the rains causing some of these problems because we, of all people, love the rain. We are seeing green again, in the green grass, the plants, peoples’ fall gardens, and even water in some of the creeks and ponds! What beautiful sights! We can certainly count our blessings for these things.

Keep Blanco Beautiful wishes all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Remember the reason for the season. Try doing something for someone who may not be quite as fortunate as you are and don’t have family or friends to remember them. All it takes is a little time to give of yourself. We have some wonderful groups in Blanco that participate in helping. If in doubt, stop in the Chamber and get names of these non-profit groups to see where you might help.

When you see Retta Martin, thank her for checking on the lights in the park and around every night. She is very diligent in trying to keep the lights on!
