Local veterinarian Phillip Schwarzlose was driving his truck east on RR 165 at around 11:30am on Sunday, December 18, when the vehicle left the right side of the roadway, crossed the roadway, and collided with two trees on the left side of the roadway.

For reasons unknown, DPS Trooper Frank Randolph reported, the driver overcorrected, hit the truck’s brakes, and skidded across the road, and into the ditch. The vehicle went airborne, hit a tree on the right side, tilted right in the air, and hit a large tree with the front end of the truck. The truck came to rest on its right side, said the trooper.

Schwarzlose was airlifted to Brackenridge Hospital. He has since returned home to recover.
