Blanco Counseling Center to Open at Trinity

Dr. Gene Allen will open Blanco Counseling Center, housed at Trinity Lutheran Church, beginning Thursday, January 12, 2012. Dr. Allen has been a pastoral counselor, educator, and consultant for over thirty years. He will provide individual counseling, family counseling, and spiritual development counseling for the Blanco area.

Dr. Allen felt it was time to open a center in Blanco to fill a need for counseling from a Christian perspective. Many of his Blanco clientele were traveling into central San Antonio for appointments. He is accepting new patients by appointment only. Dr. Allen will be offering a sliding-scale based on income so that everyone will have the opportunity to have their counseling needs met.

Dr. Allen is a former military chaplain, and holds PhD in psychology, and Doctor of Ministry from Southern Seminary in Kentucky. Among his many accomplishments, he is the recipient of three Bronze Stars, one Purple Heart, and four Meritorious Service Medals. He has held faculty assignments at Oblate School of Theology – San Antonio, TX; University of Incarnate Word-San Antonio, TX; San Francisco Theological Seminary-San Francisco, CA; Baylor University-Waco, TX; Southern Seminary-Louisville, KY; and Christian Seminary-Lexington, KY.
