A couple were making their first visit to a marriage counselor and the counselor asked them what seemed to be the root of their problems. The wife responded, "It all started when we thought it would be cute to think up each other's New Year's resolutions."
In II Corinthians 5:17 we read, "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." New year resolutions come and go. Every year we go through the same process. I suppose in some ways it's inevitable. The passing of one year and the beginning of a new one brings thoughts of making a fresh start. Thoughts of changing some things we think need to be changed and pursing a different course. This is not a bad thing, but it shouldn't be centered just around the New Year.
A new beginning begins with Christ. In Him past transgressions are removed, abundant life is brought to light, and a living hope is born. Anyone should have the opportunity to start over. This is what Christ brings. Have a new year and new life in Christ!
