Blanco County Economic Development Kicks Off 2012
Wednesday, January 11, 2012 • Posted January 12, 2012

The Blanco County Economic Development Corp (BCEDC) Board invites you to attend the first meeting of 2012 at the Johnson City Library on January 18 at 9:30am.

This month’s speaker, Tom Koch, a Blanco County resident and water engineer professional will present development and water issues in Blanco County. Tom has spent over 30 years in the Hill Country working with developers and water suppliers on Hill Country water issues. Tom’s work has provided him an extensive knowledge of issues, alternatives, trends and futures as it pertains to water.

The BCED meets the third Wednesday of each month to discuss the economic potential and growth of our county. In 2011, a major milestone was reached when the BCED adopted a 5-Year Strategic Economic Development plan. Also, in late 2011, the BCED began inviting speakers of interest to monthly board meetings and found them extremely valuable in helping steer a direction for Blanco County. Speakers in 2011 included Matt Berg and Bill Pehlivanian, representing CH2M Hill, a global infrastructure consulting firm; Ernest and Taunya Miller of AGulent Agronomics, a Blanco County small business that has recently developed and launched a new technology for container plants, and David Whatley, LCRA Parks Manager who provided an update on the Pedernales Nature Park. The success of this speaker program has laid the foundation to expand the number of speakers in 2012, so stay tuned.
