For many individuals, the start of a new year provides an opportunity for renewed optimism and rededication to self-improvement. The same is true for many businesses and organizations, as we look forward to growth and progress. For me, I will focus on five essentials in the new year: 1) to driving foot traffic into local businesses; 2) to help increase sales and reducing costs for our local city and county businesses; 3) to contain health insurance costs through pro-active solutions and co-ops 4) to advocate for positive change with a focus on team work; and 5) to supporting economic, workforce, and tourism development. These items are at the core of commitment in the New Year and they are significant for business in and around our city.

Many county organizations will gear up this year for an exciting year ahead including many plans that are in the works for events and festivals countywide. During the coming year I will also role out plans for new communications tools and co-ops to help many businesses become more active online and to better brand themselves. I resolve to work diligently on both the high-tech and personal touches that Blanco businesses want from to see in this fast-paced business climate.

I will carry out the mission to create a business environment where our Blanco businesses can thrive. I invite you to join us on this adventure. Happy New Year and may your 2012 be fruitful and prosperous.
