The Pedestal
Wednesday, January 11, 2012 • Posted January 12, 2012

Who is on your pedestal? Who do you look up to, or try to emulate? I hope it’s Jesus!

Have you ever admired someone so much that you thought they could never do wrong, and then when they fell, you thought, oh gosh, another hypocrite! If that’s the case, then we’re all hypocrites because not one of us has lived without sin all our lives, and not one of us can make it until Jesus comes without committing another sin in the future either. Sin includes even your thoughts! Jesus said if you’ve thought it, it’s the same as doing it. Read Matthew 5:27-28.

“23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23

There is only One who hasn't sinned; Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Hebrews 9:28 “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”

Christ said "And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.” John 6:65

And in John 13:15, He said “I have given you an example.” He is the example.

He is our role model. If we want to be good Christians, then we have to follow Christ's example. Read about Him, and think about Him. He and the Father are supping with us right now, in our hearts, and His Spirit will never leave us, as long as we believe in Him as the Son of God, and God in the flesh, who was born of man, crucified for our sins, buried in the borrowed tomb and arose and is alive today, seated at the right hand of God the Father, and Creator of all things.

There are schools that teach people how to preach. There are people who may be good at preaching a message, who are anointed of God to preach His Word, and perhaps you would like to preach like them. I’d like to suggest that we don't aspire to be like them. I believe we should aspire to be like Jesus. We should ask Him to teach us because, in John 14:26, He said His Spirit is the Teacher. We can attend the Holy Ghost school, through prayer, meditation, study of God's Word, and by using it effectively in our lives, continually being washed by God's Word, Who is changing us from glory to glory while we’re alive on earth, sowing our seeds for our harvest. We need to sow God's Word, because He said it is seed.

I hope Jesus is the One you admire, on your pedestal. And may I say that each time we criticize someone, be it a believer or not, we have placed them on a pedestal. Only the pedestal we’ve put them on is one like a potter uses when they’re working with clay. We have taken them out of the realm of a normal human being and have begun to carve them or shape them, on our pedestal, each time we make a critical remark about another human being. Selah that one. (We’re not the Potter, we are the clay!)

We need to stop criticizing each other. I do it, too, don't worry, and me and my articles have probably been criticized also, but we will be judged in the same manner as we judge, so if we want to be judged mercifully, we must first be merciful and really, just not judge. Jesus said do not judge! Matthew 7:1

It shouldn’t matter what others write about or try to deceive us into believing; the words of Jesus Christ are the words we should be listening to and no one else. He is Truth and Light. Why read books written by mere humans when we have His true Word?

Jesus even warned us to be wary of the great deceiver, who will deceive even the elect in Mark 13:22.

So, who is on your pedestal? I hope it's Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Praise Him!
