Tots Need Toys Drive a Success
Wednesday, January 18, 2012 • Posted January 19, 2012

Our local toy drive, Tots Need Toys, was a huge success this year, thanks to the generosity of the citizens of Blanco County. The event was organized by members of New Hope Lutheran, St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church, and Blanco United Methodist Church.

This year we served 182 children who reside in Blanco County. Parents were able to pick up two gifts for each child, as well as stocking stuffers, hand gloves, and a family game.

Funding for this program comes from our community. Blanco Ice House and the Shell gas station allowed us to place donation jars on their counters and the local Dollar General donated coloring books for the children. Each family was given two pounds of hamburger and a few canned goods, too. The hamburger was donated by Surlean Food Company of San Antonio and canned goods were provided by HEB of Dripping Springs. We also had 25 Blanco High School students from the Leo Club and National Honor Society give up a Saturday to wrap presents and help recipients.

This day was such a success due to our volunteers from all over the county. If you would like to be involved next year, please contact Blanco United Methodist, New Hope Lutheran or St. Ferdinand’s.
