Keep Blanco Beautiful

Blanco is registered for the 2012 Texas Trash-Off event. This year it will be held the second weekend in April because the first weekend is Easter. So, mark your calendars for Saturday, April 14, and watch the newspaper for more information on how the event will be run in 2012. Let’s keep Blanco beautiful!

In April of 2011 there were 848 Trash-Off events held in the state of Texas. Additionally, another 1,905 events were held in March and May. That’s 2753 organized trash removal endeavors. Almost 166 thousand people donated a combined half million hours to cleaning roadsides, rivers, parks and neighborhoods of unsightly, unwanted trash. In the state of Texas, 6 million pounds of trash were collected from roadsides and rivers. Recycling events, like the county trash-off, collected more than 1.2 million pounds of electronics, 34,340 pounds of batteries, and 71,439 tires. Over 8 million pounds of paper, 845,894 pounds of plastic and 2.3 million pounds of metal were also collected during the months covered by the Great American Clean-up.

Make every day a Keep Blanco Beautiful event by picking up litter along our roadways and in our park. Put April 14, 2012 – Keep Blanco Beautiful Trash-Off Day – on that calendar you got for Christmas and plan to join your neighbors for a major Blanco clean-up.
