Girls Grab District Wins

The varsity Panthers were fired up for the 2nd round district game against the Junction Lady Eagles on Tuesday, January 24. The energy served the team well as they secured a 42-38 win. In the first meeting of the teams, the Eagles won 45-35.

The Panthers were led by senior Lindsey Jenkins, who scored 10 points. Senior Justine Cooley added 9, with junior Leslie McClinton and senior Felicia Skillman each making 6 points.

The JV girls also outscored the Eagles, 42-24. Charlsey Smith turned steals into layups, scoring 17 points. Maria Avila ripped the nets for 13 points, and Abbie Culton added 6.

On Friday, January 27, Blanco coasted to a strong 62-47 win over the Ingram Lady Warriors. McClinton scored 17 points as she sailed through the air, drawing fouls and sinking jump shots. Cooley fired in 15 points and freshman Lexee Jenkins scored 8.

The JV added another win over Ingram, 38-32. Megan Wier blazed the hoops with 15 points, while Smith added 10, and Avila scored 8.

The Panthers will wrap up district play Tuesday against Comfort and Friday, February 3, against Harper. These two remaining district games will determine a playoff position for the Blanco girls. Come support the Panthers as they take on the Longhorns!
