Gentle Readers:

I thought spring had sprung, but I was wrong, although somebody needs to tell the flora and fauna! This is really the first example I have had since I moved here of what is termed "Texas weather," with the temperature being in the 80s one day and freezing the next. Even my home state of West Virginia is a little more subtle in their temperature rises and falls!

How about the Giants' win! Wasn't it great?

Today's column is mostly a shout-out to folks I know who are having some health issues and those I don't get to see in person very often. So here's to you, Mr. TD, Miss Ada, Miss Gladys (whose daughter is just swell – she and her chickens make my Saturdays), Miss Ruby, Miss Willie, Clinton, and Glen. I am just proud to know all of you.

Happy Valentine's Day, and give yourselves a hug from me. (Don't forget to stop at the library on the aforementioned Valentine's Day for punch and cookies to celebrate our patrons.)
