Chinese New Year Celebrated
Wednesday, February 8, 2012 • Posted February 10, 2012

Blanco Kung Fu celebrated the Chinese New Year a recent Monday night with wonderful food and fun games. Students and family members ate scrumptious food and visited. Then everyone was entertained by Shifu Chris Denslow and his students. A rousing game of Chinese tag, involving children and adults, kept everyone laughing. A circle game was also a favorite and entailed a circle of children wishing Happy New Year to each other and then scampering around the circle. The festivities were heartwarming and a fun time was had by all.

The Chinese New Year of 2012 is the Year of Dragon, the most favored of the zodiac signs. The dragon is a symbol of the Chinese emperor and those born under this sign are believed to be lucky and strong.

Kung Fu is a Chinese martial art designed to refine the body and the mind. Chris Denslow offers classes for children and adults at Gem of the Hills on Monday evenings.
