Panthers Pummel Deer and Horns

The Lady Panthers sealed their play-off position with overwhelming wins over Comfort and Harper. Blanco will finish in the top 3 and advance to post-season play. On January 31, the varsity girls ran past the Deer, 62-40. Senior Justine Cooley ripped the nets, scoring 21 points. Seniors Micaela Klein and Kayla Martinez added 14 and 10 points respectively. Junior Leslie McClinton scored 8, with Lindsey Jenkins making 6. Points were also scored by Reagan Rogers and Lexee Jenkins.

The junior varsity also downed the Deer, 39-28. Charlsey Smith and Megan Wier each scored 10 for Blanco. Maria Avila sank 9, with Kari Graham adding 4, and Abbie Culton and Valerie Hesskew scoring 3 each.

On Friday, February 3, the Panthers avenged a previous 14-point loss to the Harper Longhorns with a 48-24 win. Running a stifling press with fast breaks, the Blanco girls were unstoppable. McClinton was on fire, scoring 27 points. Klein added 6, followed by Martinez and Rogers with 4 each, Lindsey Jenkins with 3, and Cooley and Lexee Jenkins scored 2 each.

The junior varsity girls lost a close one, falling by 4 to the Longhorns. The final score was 26-30. Smith led the team with 13 points, followed by Wier with 5, and Avila with 4. Graham and Autumn Collins each sank 2.
