William “Bill” Weldon West
Wednesday, February 15, 2012 • Posted February 16, 2012

William “Bill” Weldon West was born May 11, 1948, to Weldon and Bernice West. Bill grew up in Blanco and graduated from Blanco High School. He received a Bachelors of Education from Southwest State University in San Marcos, Texas. He taught English throughout central Texas as well as Point Barrow, Alaska. He later moved to Stratford, South Dakota, where he worked at Wyndham Worldwide Hospitality Group.

Bill was extremely proud of his family heritage and their place in history. This was a passion he shared with his mother, Bernice. With each passing generation some of the details of the oral histories are forgotten or confused, so it was important to Bill and Bernice to record stories while they were vivid in the minds of living descendants so that future generations will have treasured memories to enjoy. Through this passion they authored the Blanco County Heritage book, which is still enjoyed by Blanco County residents today.

Bill departed this life on February 15, 2012, leaving his beloved children: Jimmy and Susan West, Clay and Elisa West and Devin and Keith West Kallio and grandchildren; Kobie, Kyler, Maryn, and Remi. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael Flannery, Nealie Jane, Annie Janice, Hollis Sue, Lew Massey, Sheila Elizabeth and Neil Craig. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice, father Weldon, three siblings, Bennie Edward, Sarah Beth, and Ann Nell

Bill will be laid to rest in McKinney Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am Monday, February 20, in the Old Blanco County Courthouse
