Boys Victorious in Junction, Harper
Wednesday, February 15, 2012 • Posted February 17, 2012

Blanco's hoops team ruined Senior Night for the Junction Eagles in quick and decisive style. Led by Tanner Rogers' 7 points in the quarter, the Panthers jumped out to a 19-5 first quarter lead and were never threatened in a 56-42 win that was more one-sided than the final indicated.

The Panther lead ballooned to 31-13 at the half behind a second-quarter flurry from juniors Ian Ray and Sam Isenberg. Ray, Rogers and sophomore Kyle Sauceda finished the night with 11 points each, while Isenberg scored all seven of his points in the first half before taking much of the second half off.

With the score at 46-26 headed to the fourth, Junction started firing away from deep and did cut the lead to the final margin of 14 before the buzzer. Also scoring for the Panthers were sophomore Brett Champion and juniors Colton Childress and Quinn Dillard with 4 each, and sophomore Carlin Green with 2.

Because Junction did not have a JV team, the Harper JV was available to play Thursday night in Harper for the Freshman team. The Blanco freshmen won 28-21 behind the strong play of Colton Elrod and Logan Dodd, as well as good performances by Devlin Moore, Ty Royce, Dylan Bates, Dylan Tesch, Grant Calzoncit, and Robbie Arlitt.

After press time on Tuesday, the Panthers traveled to Ingram to take on the Warriors. Win or lose, the Panthers will at least finish second in district. Probable playoff date and location is next Tuesday, February 21, in San Saba with the opponent to be determined.
