Dear Editor,

This concerns the Blanco Cemetery. I know I said we were going to have a “public meeting” last year and the date came and went. I can only give you my apology and try to get it done soon.

I took over as Secretary/Treasurer in 2005. That was a little over 3 years ago. After going over the listings in the books, I discovered that there are many mistakes where section and plot numbers did not match up with the names.

I started re-mapping the cemetery and making a new alpha list so it would be correct at our public meetings.

I did not realize how big a job I was getting into. But it needs to be done. I have tried to get it done but it is very time consuming. There are many reasons why I have not finished yet: weather, family, illness and losing a parent, but I will not make excuses.

I am still working on these problems that were made many, many years ago. Most errors were just human mistakes that were made when a notebook was all they had to write things down.

I am not sure I will finish in time for our “public meeting”, even though I was “told” that there would be one this month or else. As they said, everyone is busy and patience has run out. This was by a citizen that seems to think we are not doing things correctly.

I will put another financial statement in the paper next month when I have all the figures together for 2008. This time I will try to break it down more to satisfy the ones that wanted accountability on all money made and spent.

Cliff and I work very hard to keep the cemetery looking good and keep the books up to date. We have had many old stones repaired and straightened. There are still more to be done, but we are not finished yet and will not stop until it is perfect.

We enjoy what we do, and we hope to continue. I hope you all will give me the time I need to finish, but if not, I gave it my best. That is all I can do. Let me know if you have any suggestions, complaints, or, maybe just let us know that you like what we are doing. Our e-mail address is cj7@txwinet.com. Our address is P.O. Box 473, Blanco. Thanks for your input and hopefully your patience.
