Thieves Haul Away Guard Rail Materials
Wednesday, February 22, 2012 • Posted February 23, 2012

A contractor is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the recovery and/or arrest of those responsible for reportedly stealing 425 pieces of guard rail material. The material was located at the TxDOT work site on RR 1888 at the Blanco/Kendall county line.

When workers left the site on Friday, February 17, the material was secured between the road equipment, said Sharon Chandler, who works at the contracting company. During the weekend, February 18 and 19, the suspects had to load the stolen items by hand, lifting it over the equipment and loading it onto an 18-wheeler.

“They spent quite a bit of time out there,” Chandler said. She added that none of the equipment or tools were bothered–the suspects were after the rails. “It’s very frustrating.”

The company is hoping someone had seen the activity and can remember anything that can identify the vehicles or suspects, such as a business name on the trucks used to haul away the ill-gotten items.
