Household Waste Collection Set for April 21
Wednesday, February 29, 2012 • Posted March 1, 2012

As winter ends and gives way to spring, prepare for the good weather by collecting household trash and recyclables as part of your spring-cleaning! This year, Blanco County will accept household waste and recyclables at the IESI Transfer Station located at 377 Transfer Road, Johnson City, Texas. The event will be from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on April 21, 2012. County staff and volunteers will accept and unload household quantities of tires (for a disposal fee), lead acid and rechargeable batteries, used motor oil, antifreeze, and electronics (including cell phones, telephones, computers, and televisions). In addition, large household trash items including construction debris, carpet, and old appliances as well as recyclable materials including scrap steel, cardboard, and glass will be accepted.

So mark your calendars for April 21 and gather your tires, electronics, batteries, and large household trash items. Spread the word to friends and neighbors and keep an eye on your local newspaper for a more detailed event flyer with a complete list of items accepted at the event. Community involvement is an important key to keeping Blanco County communities clean and safe. If you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation or volunteering, contact Tessa Doehrman at 830-868-6082 or Paul Granberg at 830-833-1077.
