Lady Panthers Improve to 6-0

The varsity softball team defeated the Llano Lady Jackets 5-3 on Tuesday, February 21. Callie Culton pitched five innings, striking out nine batters with three walks and four hits. Meaghen Seales pitched the final two innings with one strike-out, no walks, and no hits. Leslie McClinton, Callie Culton, and Deanna Sevilla each hit 1 of 2. Leslie smashed a double to the left field fence. Defensively, Taylor Guinn started a double-play when she fielded a grounder at 2nd and tossed it to Leslie on 2nd base, who then zipped the ball to Kelsey Schwind on 1st for the second out.

Then, on Friday, the Panthers recorded a 7-5 win over the Canyon Lake Hawks. Callie pitched all seven innings with 10 strike-outs, no walks, and eight hits. Meaghen hit 2 of 2 with two singles, a sacrifice bunt, and a walk. Angel Williams hit 2 of 3 with two singles. The Panthers led 7-1 at the top of the 7th inning and held off a late four-run rally by the Hawks to hold on 705.

The JV softball team is also undefeated this season. On Tuesday, the Panthers played at home, downing the Llano Jackets 5-1. Then, on Saturday, the team traveled to Llano for a tournament. The Panthers soundly won first place, defeating Mason, Llano, and Brady. Payton Savarino and Reagan Rogers pitched for the Panthers.

Blanco will host their own tournament March 1-3, with the Panthers playing on Friday and Saturday.
