4-H Places While on the Road

On Thursday, February 16, the Hill Country Spurs 4-H horse judging teams competed in the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Horse Judging Competition. Senior team 1 members Kendra Smith, Emily Masters, Rilee Moser, and Rachel Harlin placed second out of 166 teams and placed first in District 10. This team will go to Lubbock in June to compete in the Texas 4-H State Horse Judging competition.

Rachel Harlin placed sixth out of 559 participants and first in District 10. Blanco County senior team 2 members Laura Miertschin, Lily Masters, Brenna Stueler, and Breanna Solis also did well. Brenna Stueler was the high point scorer on her team. One intermediate and three junior teams competed in the competition. Junior team 1 member Addisyn Stueler was the high-point scorer for her team, which consisted of Kalli Dalland, Willow Grote, and Aleigh Wessels. Junior team 2 members Grace Burke, Paige Dalland, Hannah Hogan, and Rachel McGill placed 28th out of 68 teams. Grace Burke was the high-point scorer. Junior team 3 members included Ty Tomlinson and Dooley Smith, and Dooley was the high point scorer. Intermediate team members Kathryn Hogan and Colton Hurlbut also competed, and Kathryn was high-point scorer.

The teams then traveled to San Angelo to compete at the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Horse Judging competition on Saturday, February 18. Senior team 1 members, Kendra Smith, Rilee Moser, Emily Masters, and Rachel Harlin placed second out of 13 teams. Kendra Smith placed first out of 41 participants and was awarded the 4-H $500 scholarship by the San Angelo Stock Show. Senior team 2 members Laura Miertschin, Lily Masters, Brenna Stueler, and Breanna Solis placed eighth, with Breanna as the high-point scorer. Junior team 1 members Kalli Dalland, Willow Grote, Addisyn Stueler, and Aleigh Wessels placed fifth overall, and Aleigh was the high-point scorer. Junior team 2 members Grace Burke, Paige Dalland, Rachael McGill, and Kathryn Hogan placed seventh, with Kathryn being the high point-scorer. Junior team 3 member Colton Hurlbut was the high-point scorer for his team, which consisted of Hannah Hogan, Dooley Smith, and Ty Tomlinson.
