Wednesday, March 21, 2012 • Posted March 22, 2012

On Saturday, March 10, Burnet County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Francis Ybarra on a third degree felony charge of Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution of a Known Felon, according to a release from the sheriff’s office in Burnet.

The charge comes after the escape of Ybarra’s son, Johnny Angel Ybarra, in the early morning of Thursday, March 1, from the Burnet County Jail, in the county north of Blanco County. Ybarra was sentenced on February 14, 2012, to life imprisonment after pleading guilty to burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault, burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony, and assault of a family member by impeded breath or circulation. He chiseled away a cinder block from the wall under the sink in his cell, according to published reports. He was found later in the morning in the Burnet city limits by Burnet Police Department officers. Ybarra has been transferred to state prison.

Francis Ybarra was booked into the Burnet County Jail on March 10 and released on a bond of $10,000 the next day. The Burnet County Sheriff’s office reports that the investigation is continuing and additional arrests and charges are anticipated.
