Keep Blanco Beautiful
Trash-Off & Clean-Up
Wednesday, March 21, 2012 • Posted March 22, 2012 9:39 AM

Three trash-off events will be held in April. Please read this carefully so you don’t get confused.

The first event will be Keep Blanco Beautiful’s 13th Annual Trash-Off and Citywide Clean-Up. The main event will be held Saturday, April 14. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at Bindseil Park. They will be given trash bags and assigned an area of town to clean up. By noon, our beautiful little city’s streets and park should be clear of litter. Get a group together and come out to volunteer or just show up – there will be a job for you! All helpers will be treated to lunch in Bindseil Park at 11:30. Call Retta Martin at 833-4720 for more information and to sign up to help.

The second part of Keeping Blanco Beautiful is the opportunity to get rid of big items that don’t fit in your trash can. During the first two weeks of April, you can pick up a voucher at the City offices to take your large items to the city yard (Monday through Friday). A voucher is also needed to take brush and yard trimmings to the wastewater plant during the same two weeks (Monday through Friday). You must be a resident of the City of Blanco to take advantage of these opportunities. There will be no charge for these services. So, when you go in to pay your water bill, get a voucher and clean the junk out of your yard, garage, and shed.

The third and last event will be the Blanco County 2012 Household Waste Collection Event. On April 21 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the transfer station just south of Johnson City will be open for disposal of large household trash items like appliances, carpeting, scrap metal, TVs, etc. There will be a charge for disposing tires (remove the rims) but it is still a cheap and convenient way of getting rid of them. More information will be forthcoming in the Blanco County News. Call Paul Granberg at 833-1077 for more information.

Let’s all do our part to spring clean Blanco!
