District play began for the Panther softball team Tuesday, March 13. The Panthers fell to the Junction Eagles, 2-3, in a low-scoring, tough loss.

Callie Culton pitched for Blanco, tossing six strike-outs and giving up only four hits for one earned run.

The first inning ended with a 2-2 tie. The Eagles put a runner on base due to a Panther throwing error and scored off a double from the next batter. The second run was scored off a grounder.

The Panthers then scored their two runs. Leslie McClinton got on base with a walk and Meaghen Seales laid down a bunt for a single. Callie Culton leveled a single up the middle to bring Leslie in for a run. Abbie Culton hit a grounder to third for an out but made a RBI, bringing Meaghen in for a score.

Callie pitched three strike-outs to retire the Junction side of the second inning. The game remained tied 2-2 through the next five innings.

In the 7th inning, a Junction batter hit a single to get on base. Another Blanco throwing error loaded the bases and a grounder scored a run for Junction.

The Panthers batted last but failed to get a hit. Junction took the win, 3-2.

The Panthers will play two district opponents this week. They traveled to Ingram on Tuesday after press time and will play at home this Friday, March 23.
