Dear Editor,

On the night of March 19, my herd of goats was attacked by a pack of dogs. Every nanny, each hopefully in the early stages of pregnancy, was injured. Two had to be put down, and I’m very worried about three more. I apoke to the Sheriff’s office about this and asked if others in my area (Rocking J) had had similar problems. They answered affirmatively!

I’m writing this to warn people in this neighborhood that there definitely is a problem here with dog packs attacking livestock. I was told there is no leash law in Blanco County, and no animal control. The Sheriff’s office is aware of the problem, but is unable to do anything about it.

I hope people reading this will think about keeping their dogs under control, and perhaps we need to think about enacting a leash law and hiring an animal control officer.
