Wednesday, March 28, 2012 • Posted March 29, 2012

The Blanco FFA Chapter continued a busy livestock show season with several members traveling to Houston to take part in the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. With almost 27,000 livestock entries each year, Houston has proven to be the largest youth show in the world.

Overall, Blanco FFA members qualified seven animals for the premium sale. Leading the way was Jr. FFA member Dalton Savanich with a second place Medium Wool market lamb. Next in line was Katherine Biggs with a third place Shorthorn steer. Sixth place ribbons and sale slots went to senior Alex Gustafson with a Medium Wool lamb and Jr. FFA member Kelton Marek with a Crossbred barrow. Other exhibitors placing and qualifying for the sale included: Asher Haack, 12th place ABC steer; Trevor Hardin, 17th place Crossbred lamb; and Lainie Parker 20th place Crossbred lamb. Those placing but just missing the sale included Hanna Garrett with a steer and Tyler Hardin with a lamb.

Livestock exhibitors will now travel to Austin for the final show of the year, as they will be competing to make the premium sale at the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo.
