Pack 497 received the Journey to Excellence Gold Award, which is a big accomplishment for our small group of cub scouts. Every scout and leader of Pack 497 received a Gold Award patch to wear on our uniforms. The Journey to Excellence is a performance recognition program. Your pack has to show growth by having new scouts join.

The pack has to have advancement, which means you have to have a percentage of your scouts advance to their next level by completing all the achievements for their current level.

The pack has to have so many outdoor activities, hikes, parades, outdoor service projects, and pack meetings. They have to complete pack charter renewal paperwork on time.

The pack also has to have a certain percentage of trained leaders, they have to keep a budget, and they have to participate in a fundraising event. We are very proud of our cub scouts and their leaders for striving to make Pack 497 a gold award winning unit.

Joe Lockwood is our wonderful Cub Master and has helped Pack 497 grow, as have all the volunteers who help at den meetings, pack meetings, and outings. This pack can’t grow and achieve without wonderful parents and outstanding cub scouts.
