HCM Ranks Top 10% in State and Nation for Patient Safety
Wednesday, April 4, 2012 • Posted April 5, 2012

Carechex, a subsidiary of the Delta Group, the nation’s largest privately-held healthcare information services company, issued five awards to Hill County Memorial for patient safety in the following categories.

1. Overall Hospital Care

2. Major Bowel Procedures

3. Major Orthopedic Surgery

4. Join Replacement

5. Trauma Care

In each of these areas we rank in the top 10% in the state and nationally for patient safety, meaning that we are in the big leagues when it comes to preventing hospital acquired infections and other avoidable harm.

So why do we feel the need to advertise this? Are we “tooting our own horn” too much? Not really. It’s all a part of an effort to inform people using real data about the stuff that most hospitals try to ignore. Hospitals have built a name for themselves as places for the sick to get sicker, not as sources of healing. So many organizations are willing to tell patients that they are safe, but statements like that are meaningless when they remain unsupported.

We are excited to lead the charge into medical transparency. By sharing our rankings, we hope to offer a renewed peace of mind. You shouldn’t have to be scared that a routine knee replacement might turn into a staff infection and we don’t think that is right. We are glad that you can share in our celebration of remarkable care so close to home and we know that our success in these areas is purposed toward keeping you in the best health.
