Blanco County 4-H Shooting Education shooters competed on Saturday, March 10, at the 2012 State BB Gun Competition held in Fredericksburg. The following kids participated in the event: Jenna Vasquez, Jordan Wheeler, Alyssa Wheeler, Hailey Bickley, Alexus Crochet, Brendan Anderson, Brinley Portie, Hugh Galloway, Jayme Mowery, Brett Sultemeier, Garrett DeSpain, Cade Pittman, Lynlea Janvier, Brian Janvier, Caleb Dowdy, Darren Sultemeier, Ross Sultemeier, Ashtyn Portie, Jessie Mowery, and Josh Vasquez.

Many medals were won by our talented shooters. The competition consisted of a written test, followed by the actual shooting in four positions, which included prone, standing, sitting, and kneeling. The competition was sanctioned by the National Rifle Association and sponsored by the Texas State Rifle Association.

Awards were as follows: 8 year old division: Special Effort Award from Daisy, Lynlea Janvier, and 3rd Place Standing; Jessie Mowery – 3rd Place Kneeling; Brian Janvier, 2nd Place Test, 1st Place Prone, 2nd Place Kneeling, 2nd Place Standing, 2nd Pace Sitting, and Overall 2nd Place for 8 year olds. 9 year division: Brinley Portie – 3rd Place Test, 2nd Place Kneeling, and 3rd Place Overall 9 year olds. 11 year old division: Hugh Galloway – 2nd Place Standing. 12 year old division: Alyssa Wheeler – 2nd Place Test. 13 year old division: Jenna Vasquez 1st Place Standing; Alexus Crocket 3rd Place Sitting; Brendan Anderson – 3rd Place Test, 1st Place Prone, 3rd Place Overall 13 year olds.
