Panthers Take Lead in District
Wednesday, April 4, 2012 • Posted April 5, 2012

Comfort’s rain-soaked field dried out just enough for the much anticipated clash between the Bobcats and the Panthers last Friday. With each team undefeated in district play, the game held the excitement of the traditional rivalry between Blanco and Comfort.

The Bobcats took an early 2-0 lead, with the Panthers scoring one run in the fifth inning. Each team held their ground through the sixth inning. Then, in the seventh inning, the Blanco players loaded the bases just in time for Colton Childress to nail a grandslam over-the-fence homerun to the left of center field. The Panthers celebrated their 5-2 lead.

With one more opportunity to catch the Panthers, the Bobcats managed to score one more run before Ian Ray struck out the final Comfort batter and sealed the win, 5-3.

The Panthers take a 3-0 district lead to Junction this Friday, April 6, with the JV scheduled to play at 11:00 and varsity at 2:00.
