What? No Wild Flower Days in Johnson City this year?
Come out anyway and join the Texas Master Gardener Association of Blanco County on Saturday, April 28, in Memorial Park on Main Street (Hwy 290) in Johnson City from 9am to 4pm as they hold a Celebration of Spring.
The Texas Master Gardener Association of Blanco County is a non-profit organization whose primary goal is to educate the public about good gardening practices. Each of our members has completed 50 hours of training in cooperation with Texas AgriLife Extension and Texas A&M University. They also finished 50 hours of volunteer service before becoming certified as Master Gardeners. During the past year this hard-working group has donated over 2000 volunteer hours advising and helping with landscaping projects throughout Blanco County. This includes two days teaching 4th graders from the Jr. Master Gardener Program in both Johnson City and Blanco Elementary Schools.
On April 28, Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions on plants, soil, sun or shade, and water requirements to aid in your gardening success at this Spring Celebration event. We will be manning several tables with a variety of native plants and other plants that adapt well in Blanco County that you may purchase. Our garden craft table will have free handouts of how to make your own crafts as well as purchasing ones we have made. We will have a free craft table set up to entertain children while you shop. You will want to visit our Rainwater Harvesting Table and see the demonstration on how to make a drip basin to furnish water for birds and butterflies. All proceeds go toward our many landscaping projects and events that give valuable gardening information to the public.
There will be other non-profit organizations including the 4-H Hill Country Spurs and Blanco County Cat Coalition as well as other venders. Come on out to the park and help us celebrate Spring! Lots of parking available one block from the park around the County Courthouse square.
