Mixed Doubles Duo Bound for Regionals

The Panther tennis team traveled to Junction Wednesday, April 4, and Thursday, April 5, to play in the 8-AA district tournament.

Kellam Nabers and Joanna Delavan defeated Taylor and Koft of Junction in their first round, but fell in the second round to Moore and Sheriff, the eventual first place pair from Ingram. Nabers and Delavan then battled another pair from Junction, Tabbert and Staepper, to secure third place and the chance to playback for second place. With a trip to regionals on the line, the Blanco duo outscored Wilson and Barker of Ingram, 7-5 and 6-1, to take second place. Nabers and Delavan will travel to Odessa to play in the Region I Tournament on April 18 and 19.

Kelsey Schwind defeated Bri Scott of Ingram, but then lost to Martinez of Junction. Schwind beat Sparks of Comfort to place third. In a playback for second, Schwind fell to Stout of Ingram.

Alley Penshorn and Megan Wier played varsity doubles. Penshorn and Wier lost to an eventual third place team from Junction.
