I love kid’s baseball/softball games. They are so much fun! They normally don’t make TV news unless some parent/coach/child does something that makes us cringe. The everyday normal game should be on the news.
I spent this past Saturday watching a couple of Blanco games. I am a grandparent and that means I don’t have to try and watch the game, chase around my kids, and spend time in the concession stand. That gives me time to not only enjoy the game but to listen and watch the parents. That is what I did this past Saturday – listen and watch. I listened to the parents cheering on each kid who played and then I tried to match the parent with the kid. I couldn’t match parents to kids because the parents made sure that each child who stepped up to the plate had a chance to shine. Not just their child. They even yelled compliments to kids on the other teams when they made a great play! That was one of the best lessons their children will learn and made this grandma very proud.
Kudos to the parents! You played a great game!
