The Panther baseball team outscored the Harper Longhorns, 8-0, on April 14 in a district 8-AA clash.
James Leachman pitched for the win with five strike-outs, two walks, and three hits. The Panthers scored two runs in the first inning when Kyle Gray got on base with a walk and Colton Childress laid down a bunt. Pete Chalico hit a sacrifice fly for a RBI with the score by Kyle. Colton scored on a throwing error by Harper.
In the second inning James blasted a double to left field. Chad Marshall bounced a double off the wall, left of center. Kyle leveled a single up the middle to bring Layne Lassberg and Chad home for scores. Blanco led 4-0.
The third inning was scoreless, but in the fourth Kyle connected with a double over the center fielder. Colton hit a single up the middle to bring Kyle home.
Leading 5-0 at the top of the fifth, Pete took a walk and Josh McCaslin hit a double to mid-center field to bring Pete in for the run. TJ Hardin then smashed a double to mid-left field to bring Josh in. TJ scored a run on a grounder hit by Ryan Davis.
The Panthers took an 8-0 win.
The junior varsity also posted a win over the Longhorns, 11-1.
The varsity Panthers will next battle the Confort Bobcats at home Saturday, April 21, in a crucial district game.
