Cub Scouts Bring Home District Trophy
Wednesday, April 18, 2012 • Posted April 19, 2012

Joshua Neill and Morgan Lockwood represented Pack 497 in the Hill Country District Pinewood Derby in Marble Falls, April 21, 2012. There were 31 Cub Scouts racing. Joshua Neill took first place in the Derby, which means he also brought home the District Cup for Pack 497. This is the 4th year for Joshua to bring home the first place District trophy. Morgan Lockwood took second place and he is also honored to have the fastest time ever on the Derby track, 198.7 miles per hour. Computerized tracks are great! Each boy races several times and their slowest time is thrown out and the others are averaged to get the winners.

Neill and Lockwood earned the privilege to represent their Pack by each placing in the top three in the Pack Derby earlier this year. The Pinewood Derby is always a highlight in the year’s activities for the Cub Scouts.

This is the last year that Joshua and Morgan will be competing in the Derby as they will both be crossing over into Boy Scouts. They will be learning new and more advanced information and badges as they work toward Eagle Scout.
